在歐洲聯盟勉強就難民安置問題達成協議之後，美國總統歐巴馬22日呼籲歐洲國家，接受他們的難民「公平分配」。
在歐巴馬和德國總理梅克爾(Angela Merkel)進行電話交談後，白宮發表聲明說，2位領袖同意有必要就難民議題達成一項廣泛的全歐洲決議案，根據這項議案，歐盟國家都要接受對難民的公平分配。
這項聲明可能被視為是對匈牙利、捷克、羅馬尼亞和斯洛伐克的警告，這些國家22日在歐盟部長會議，投票反對安置難民案。這項難民安置分配決議案，還需要送到23日的歐盟高峰會批准。斯洛伐克總理費科(Robert Fico)已經揚言，他不會接受來自布魯塞爾的強制命令。
不過由於美國本身就被指責在處理難民危機上做的不夠，因此歐巴馬的這項呼籲效果將被減弱。
根據22日通過的安置計畫，未來2年內歐盟各國同意重新安置在義大利、希臘等國的12萬難民，並同意儘快實施。
